The North Sea has been a major contributor to European economies for over fifty years and will continue to do so in the future. The Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) has identified the value of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) in extending the producing life of this basin.

SNF, the world’s largest manufacturer and supplier of polyacrylamide recently confirmed its commitment to the North Sea and EOR through the construction of a world-scale manufacturing plant for EOR polymers at their Billingham site in Teesside, UK.

Growing with Demand
As part of SNF’s ongoing commitment to the oil and gas industry, they have recently increased their presence in the Aberdeen oil and gas community to better enable value creation for the operators in the North Sea for enhanced oil recovery projects.

SNF UK’s managing director Andrew Woollin recently told Aberdeen-based, Oil and Gas UK’s Wireline magazine: “SNF’s growth beyond its traditional water treatment, pulp and paper, and mining markets has been driven by the global oil industry.”

Investment in additional plants, such as Billingham, around the world enables SNF to add value through local capacity and improved supply chain providing greater flexibility in supply. Andrew went on to tell Wireline magazine: “We’re actively engaged in talking to North Sea operators regarding current and future EOR projects to better tailor our service and capabilities to meet their needs.”
